Listen, I can't afford a publicist to write this up, so I'm just going to get down to brass tacks.
Coffin Salesman began in 2017 as a singer songwriter project because if you start a project instead of a band you never have to break up. I had been working on some modest acoustic guitar songs and as I invited more friends to come play (and drink) things escalated very quickly. Suddenly I didn't want to go play songs just under my name anymore; I wanted to reflect something ugly. And there it was like marquee over the graveyard of my mind….COFFIN SALESMAN
The music has been described as doom folk, rock n' roll, or sometimes “folk punk's goth older brother”. I think those are all pretty good, but you can decide for yourself. There is a through line; it's not just some genre hopping experiment for kicks. Although I admit for booking purposes, it would've been much easier to have just picked a lane.
So in summary:
Is this a loud grim rock n' roll band? Yes
Is this a gloomy quiet folk project? Yes
Is this a studio experiment? Yes
Any questions? No? Wonderful.
I never claimed to be a good salesman.
